Air conditioning breaking down at the start of summer

Last summer, I had a rough start with my air conditioning system.

I have central air conditioning and typically just leave it off all year until the warm weather hits.

Once it got to about 70 degrees outside, I turned on the central air. After a few hours, I didn’t notice any difference in the temperature, but I figured it was just taking some time. Afterall, I could hear the sound of the central air running, so I knew it was on. The same issue persisted throughout the week and the weather was only getting hotter. Finally, I called my heating and cooling company and asked if they could send someone to check it out. It turns out that the refrigerant had been leaking from the central air unit. In addition, there was a build up of leaves and debris in the vents of the unit. It didn’t take long for the HVAC technician to fix these problems. He told me that I really need to have someone come check out my air conditioning before I turn it on for the year in order to avoid some of these issues. After I walked into the house and felt the immediate relief of cool air, I knew that the HVAC technician was right. Now, I already have my appointment scheduled for this summer so that I can enjoy the air conditioning right when I need it.
