I’m at the age where it seems like all of my friends are getting married.
Even though I am happy for them, going to weddings weekend after weekend can get a little old.
I find myself getting a little more annoyed with the travel, lodging, and extra stuff that goes along with being a wedding guest. This last weekend, I went to a wedding for one of my college buddies. We met in college, but neither of us live in the same city. I really care about my friend, so it was no problem to book a flight and a hotel room so that I could be there and show up for him and his bride. While the wedding was scheduled in the summer, it was an indoor event. This would have been fine, but it seemed like the venue had no air conditioning. They had ceiling fans going and the windows were open, but the room was hot and stiff. I couldn’t believe that we had all gotten dressed up in suits just to sit in a hot room in the middle of the summer. I even asked one of the workers what was going on with the air conditioning. I asked her if it was broken or something, but she insisted that they had the air conditioning on. The rest of the guests and I had a hard time believing that. It made it really difficult to get on the dance floor and enjoy the night when we were all so hot. I couldn’t wait to get back to the hotel and blast the air conditioning.
