It’s geothermal heating and cooling from here on out

I never really considered the fact that with this house, we might very well be choosing the last HVAC unit we ever need. This is because we chose to go with a geothermal heat pump instead of the more traditional heating and cooling equipment. The geothermal heat pump normally lasts at least 30 plus years. So given that we are building this house in our mid sixties, I’m guessing this will be the last HVAC unit we have installed. The geothermal heat pump caught our fancy a while back. We loved the idea of such an efficient and sustainable source of residential HVAC. The fact that the geo heat pump uses the near constant temperature of the earth to extract heating and cooling energy is awesome. I couldn’t have been more pleased that my husband and I were on the same page when it came to the geo heat pump. And I was afraid that we wouldn’t. Like me, my husband is all about sustainability and eco friendly HVAC. But the initial outlay for a geothermal heat pump is a bit more expensive. And I was afraid he might balk at that for sure. However, he did the math before I even approached him with my sustainability argument for this HVAC unit. The savings we’ll enjoy over the course of owning the geo heat pump will more than make up for the added initial costs. In fact, we’ll pay for that difference in just a four or five years of HVAC savings with the geo heat pump. It’s an exciting prospect to know that we’ll have the best, most efficient heating and cooling for as long as we’re able to stay in our new house.
