A change in air filtration makes a big change in indoor air quality

I was late to the party when it came to the importance of indoor air quality.

In fact, until the pandemic hit, I had no idea that indoor air quality was even any sort of concern.

For me, bad air quality was reserved for outside where the exhaust fumes are and all that. I simply had no idea that there was such a thing as indoor air pollution. This was mostly because I was under the impression that the HVAC equipment was cleaning the air every time it came on. To my mind, this was why I was changing the HVAC air filter every month. Besides, I could see dust and stuff on the air filter when I changed it out. Well, I was sort of right and quite wrong at the same time when it came to the air filters and the HVAC equipment cleaning the air. The air filters I’ve used the entire time I’ve been a homeowner haven’t been cleaning the air. In fact, those HVAC air filters are designed to protect the HVAC equipment and not to clean the air or safeguard our health. However, air filtration could make an enormous difference in the indoor air quality. The thing was that I just had to make sure that I was getting the sort of HVAC air filter that was designed to improve indoor air quality. So I upgraded the air filter situation in my house from the cheap paper air filters to a HEPA filter. This thing traps and removes more that 99 percent of airborne contaminants and protects the HVAC equipment as well.
