I think we were hesitant to really change anything in our getaway house because we loved the simplicity of the place so much. Subconsciously, I believe we didn’t want to fool with that feeling so we sort of left the upgrades to the place alone. But finally, it just became quite evident that we really needed to upgrade the HVAC equipment for sure. Our vacation house has been in the family for a long time and it sits in a quaint tourist town. But it’s up on the tallest hill and commands just spectacular views. It’s the perfect spot to get out of the city. Winters are especially nice out there. There is a wood stove for heating and it’s just about the best heating I’ve ever experienced. The summer can get a bit hot at times and we have always just put a window air conditioner in when the heat hits. But this all seemed a bit antiquated. While we love the wood stove, it sure is nice to have the ductless heat pump we just had the HVAC company install. This allows us to have some heat on when we get there. We don’t have to freeze until we get the fire lit. Conversely, that ductless heat pump sure does a fantastic job with the HVAC cooling during the summer. The air conditioning is just far superior to having those window unit air conditioners. This HVAC equipment upgrade has also sort of paved the way for us to do some additional updates to the kitchen and flooring as well.
