Signing up for a repair system for the gas furnace

When I installed a new gas furnace, I should have taken better care of it.

It was a huge investment that didn’t last as long as it should have.

The furnace ended up costing way more than expected. I was entirely unhappy with the price & was unwilling to spend even more currency on a repair contract. I assumed that a brand new gas furnace would be good without professional repair for a few years. I made sure to be diligent about cleaning the filter every month however never got around to scheduling proactive upkeep. After more than five years, the gas furnace suddenly quit. I expected the repair to be minor, quick & infancy. However, once the serviceman took the system apart, he found a hairline crack in the heat exchanger. This flaw was too small to see with the human eye. He needed a magnifying glass to show it to me. He then told me that the price of a new heat exchanger is more than a whole new gas furnace! Because the heat exchanger is the component that prevents carbon monoxide from entering the breathing air, it’s vital. He explained that the lack of official repair had allowed dust to accumulate within the inner workings. This dust restricted airflow & caused the gas furnace to run longer, toil harder & eventually overheat. The overheating caused the crack in the heat exchanger, and since I’d failed to keep up with professional service, our manufacturer’s warranty wouldn’t cover the damage. I had no option however to buy a whole new gas furnace. This time, I was smart enough to sign up for a repair plan.
