Too many people for the a/c

I moved into a new apartment about a month ago, and it’s taken me the whole month to finally unpack and get it together the way I want it.

I decided to invite some friends over for a housewarming party! For the first time in my life, I had a place of my own that felt like home.

I couldn’t wait to share that with my friends and family! Last night, they all came over. I began cooking some horderves a few hours before my guests arrived. I noticed the apartment heating up, but I turned up the air conditioning unit and figured it would be fine. However, I didn’t realize just how hot this apartment could get. Since I’d never had people over, the apartment always remained cool and comfortable for me. Now that there were twenty additional bodies in my apartment, the air conditioning unit was working overtime to try to keep the place cool; and unfortunately, it wasn’t very successful. I noticed some of my guests begin to sweat. Eventually, someone even opened a window or two. I started to feel embarrassed and began running any fans I could find to supplement the air conditioning. All of my guests were polite about it, but as the apartment got warmer, I noticed more and more guests coming up with reasons to call it a night. I guess I didn’t realize that my air conditioning unit would have to work so much harder with the warmth provided by all of my guests. Reflecting on the situation, I’ve decided that the best thing I can do is to purchase portable air conditioners and fans before my next party. There’s no sense in upgrading my entire cooling system when the single air conditioning unit works fine for just myself. That being said, I was upset that my guests were not comfortable with the temperature of my party.
