I was hanging out with my sister a few days ago, and we had visited because season two of our favorite series was coming out. This is a reason to celebrate for us, and so we decided to watch the first few episodes of season two together. It went well, even with all of the ads in the way. However, I almost spit out my soda when my best friend’s ad for his heating and cooling company came on the screen! Now most people would probably wonder why that is weird. It’s because if you know anything about my friend, he is pretty against technology. Although he has his own HVAC business, for a long time, he did not use modern technology at all, he used old fashioned methods of getting his business heard. When I would bring up the subject of online marketing to try and help him, he would completely dismiss me, and then go on a rant about how much he hated the internet and wished things could go back to how they used to be, times were much simpler than and so on. I never imagined my friend would try digital marketing! After my sister and I were done with watching the series, I drove back home. After I arrived home, I immediately called my friend and told him I saw his ad. He told me that he had to try some different form of advertising, because his air conditioning company wasn’t doing so well anymore, and it was at risk of going out of business. I had no idea, and I was honestly quite proud of him for trying something that he didn’t like. He actually told me that using online marketing was pretty smart and not that bad at all.
