Be sure to check the ductwork prior to HVAC replacement

Glad he did because, unbeknownst to us, sections of the ductwork were no longer viable.

Our HVAC system, which has lasted nearly 21 years, just died recently. The HVAC tech came out and pronounced the machine as dead. There were no more quick fixes or parts to be added to make that HVAC go. The only thing that HVAC was good for at this point was the recycling plant. It almost got us through one last summer season. The heat here is rough for four months. The HVAC gave up the ghost toward the end of August but, there was still at least 6 more weeks of intense heat. Fortunately, we had been given an 18 months heads up that our HVAC was circling the drain. My wife and I not only began saving for the a replacement, we started to do our due diligence on what we wanted. It became immediately evident to the both of us that the internet was awash with an overwhelming amount of HVAC information. We had the good sense to engage an HVAC contractor. This guy was able to whittle all that noise down to something we could actually understand. More importantly, he did a thorough inspection of our home. Glad he did because, unbeknownst to us, sections of the ductwork were no longer viable. The HVAC contractor took be to show me where there were areas that moisture had eroded the duct section. There were actual holes and some section simply collapsed when I touched them. It’s a good thing we knew this prior to the HVAC failing or we would have been without HVAC for a lengthy amount of time.
