The dog kept barking and I lost my concentration

The screen was cracked from the fall, but I contacted my wife and she immediately came outside of the house

I absolutely love my dog, but sometimes she can really be a pain in the butt. She constantly barks when the mailman comes to the door. She barks when the neighbors are outside in the back yard cutting the hedges, mowing the grass, or weeding the garden. She barks when a bird lands in the tree in the front yard. I am accustomed to hearing the dog bark frequently, but sometimes not loud, aggressive bark really startles me. I was outside the house on Tuesday cleaning some dirt and leaves out of the window AC unit. I was standing on the fifth ladder rung. I had plenty of space to work and everything was going well until the dog started barking. I was concentrating on the AC unit and the barking dog caught me off guard. I lost my concentration and the sun started glaring in my eyes. All of a sudden, I came crashing down to the ground and the ladder landed on top of me. I felt a very sharp pain in my leg. I looked down and saw a huge piece of wood sticking out of the side of my leg. My leg was bleeding a lot and I knew that I wasn’t going to get up on my own. I grabbed my cell phone out of my back pocket. The screen was cracked from the fall, but I contacted my wife and she immediately came outside of the house. She didn’t realize that I had fallen until I called. She helped me get into the car and we drove straight to the emergency room.
