By running my own business, I have been able to set my own schedule, & devote more time & attention to my family, then i’ll be honest I got into workaholic mode for a couple years & lost sight of what was entirely pressing in life. I made a lot more money, but was gone almost all the time & missed out on a lot of wonderful moments in my son’s childhood. It was difficult to walk away from a wonderful task, although I knew it was the right decision, working for a private company lets me use my HVAC skills, but in a more focused way that gives me more time off, and this company focuses mainly on “flipping” houses, which means he does intense short-term renovations, & he needs a reliable HVAC tech, and a terrible HVAC plan in a condo might keep it on the market unsold for months on end, so he needs someone he can trust. I come in & evaluate the existing HVAC plan of any property he takes over, & let him guess what the cheapest choice will be… Usually I just do a full HVAC tune up & install a few modern parts to keep it running dependable for the next couple of years, then sometimes, in entirely unofficial circumstances, I will advocate getting a whole modern HVAC plan installed, but this is entirely luxurious so it’s also entirely rare, but he & I both have a wonderful understanding of economics, & return on investment, so I only will advocate a full HVAC plan replacement if really necessary.
