Summertime brings hot weather and outdoors fun. It also means that without air conditioning, being inside can be really miserable. I hate it when the air conditioning isn’t working when it is time to go to bed. You spend more time tossing and turning in hopes of finding a cool spot on the sheet or pillow. You fall to sleep exhausted and wake up sweaty and feeling grungy. As difficult as those situations are, I think the worst thing that has happened to me, is when the air conditioning wouldn’t shut off. My dad has recently installed a new air conditioning unit in our home. He had never done an AC installation before and he was positive he could do it alone. The AC worked well for awhile, and then it wouldn’t shut off. We all knew that it was getting too cold in the house. Dad tried to make some adjustments, but the air coming from the air vents, just kept getting colder. He even tried switching the thermostat so we could get heat, but we still only got cold air. We finally pulled out a portable space heater and we all huddled in the living room under blankets. Dad finally called the HVAC company the next morning. When the HvAC tech said that the air conditioning unit had been installed wrong, mom gave him an I told you so look. It took them about twenty minutes to find the problem and correct it. The HVAC tech stuck around for a bit, to make sure the air conditioning was going to shut off and on properly.
