My wife wants our kids to learn to fix things around the house

I guess sometimes it makes me feel less manly because I never learned how to snake a drain in the bathroom or try to get a trapped raccoon out of our ventilation ducts

My wife really wants our kids to be able to fix things around the house when they are adults. The problem is that I never learned how to fix things, and so I’m not exactly the best guy to teach them! My wife’s dad was a definite Mr. Fix It. He knew how to fix just about everything when she was growing up, and over the years, he taught her a lot of stuff. I don’t know how she ended up with me, because I don’t even know how to change a tire or the air filter in my HVAC system. I’m really pretty useless when it comes to stuff like that, but I’m great at fixing computers and cooking stuff on the grill! It makes me feel bad that I can’t teach our boys how to do things like change the oil in their cars or tinker around with the air conditioning system when it goes on the blink, but that’s just not in my wheelhouse, so to speak. My wife has shown them several things about plumbing, electrical work, and how to work on our oil furnace. I guess sometimes it makes me feel less manly because I never learned how to snake a drain in the bathroom or try to get a trapped raccoon out of our ventilation ducts. I guess it’s just something I’m going to have to deal with, though. I don’t like it, but other than going back to school and taking an HVAC class or something, I don’t have any really good ideas!
