Entering into a new home

However, my boss told me that I didn’t have a choice and that if I didn’t go into our customer’s homes then I would be fired.

I have been working for a local HVAC company for about six years. I started working for this company when I was fresh out of high school. I have worked my way up from working in the shop to being the head HVAC technician. I really like working for this HVAC company and I hope to own my own HVAC shop one day. I really hope that my boss will promote me to manager, but we had a situation the other day that has me second guessing working for this particular HVAC. During the current pandemic, I have been struggling with going into customer’s homes for house calls. I told my boss that it made me feel uncomfortable because I have a wife and three kids at home and I don’t want to get them sick. However, my boss told me that I didn’t have a choice and that if I didn’t go into our customer’s homes then I would be fired. I understand that this HVAC company is a small business, but you can’t put your employees at risk like that. Well, I told my boss that I wasn’t willing to go into a new home, so my boss let me go. I know that I need to find a new job, but I am just going to take this time off and spend it with my family. Thankfully, my wife has a great job so we will be able to survive for a while with that and the small amount of savings we do have.
