After 20 years of doing business, the corporation that we work for chose to invest funds in the future of the business.
The owners brought on board a Business Development Manager to help to direct the corporation to the next level. The corporation is part of the construction industry and because it’s family-owned, the owners weren’t open to change. However, after a competitor went through a successful rebranding of their corporation, the owners of our corporation saw this as a great idea. Prior to hiring the Business Development Manager, the corporation had a Marketing and Social Media person. But that job did little to supply useful strategies to the corporation, nor did it foster partnerships or bring about current markets for its products and services. However, within months of hiring the Business Development Manager, the corporation had new merch, new corporation logo, newly wrapped vehicles, a modern website, and was winning bigger contracts in a completely different market. The results were immediate, and the owners regret not taking this action earlier. Sometimes we believe it is safer to do things the same way without taking risks. Of course, we have all been there, where we feel it is safer in our comfort zones. We believe the owners of our corporation felt safe with their area in the industry, so they hesitated on exploring other options. Hiring the Business Development Manager has taught them to take more risks because the corporation is now winning and executing contracts with major companies that it was not exposed to before. Of course, this means more upgrade income and absolutely the owners are glad with that. Hiring the Business Development Manager was the best thing they did for the corporation after 20 years.
