As much as I would love to pretend that nothing was wrong, the fact that my thermostat was reading 84 degrees said otherwise. I knew that my air conditioning system was broken, and had been broken for the past 3 days, I just didn’t want to admit it. Because not only would admitting mean I would have to get a professional A/C technician, but I would also be admitting that HVAC maintenance is important, something I had always argued against and thought was a waste of money. When my friend came over, unlike me, they didn’t ignore the issue and told me straight away that I needed to get the cooling device fixed. It was then that I accepted the fact that the HVAC machine wasn’t going to fix itself, no matter how much I hoped. My friend did me the favor by calling the local A/C business and getting me an appointment. The air conditioning specialist arrived a couple of days later, and thankfully, the issue was minor and the A/C bill was actually not that bad, which was a relief. I then decided to sign up for their HVAC service plan, because I knew if I didn’t I would fall back into the same habits, and I didn’t want to repeat the same mistakes. The A/C service plan was a monthly fee, and with it came the benefits of free HVAC maintenance, reminders and other services. Which I felt was worth it. I just hope that this will save me money instead of losing it.

There were a lot of things I wanted to do growing up, it was a big decision after all, what would you spend the rest of your life doing? I wanted to become an astronaut for a while, until I found out what they had to go through in order to even get in a spaceship. Then I wanted to become an artist, but I wasn’t patient enough to practice frequently. So I finally decided on being a musician. But first, I had to learn how to play an instrument. I started with the guitar, and had a good friend help me. Even after several weeks, I saw no improvement in my playing, to put it simply, I just sucked. I tried other instruments, and had similar results. I guess music wasn’t in me. I eventually lost my patience and decided to try something else. With a lot of pressure from my dad, I eventually became a heating and A/C specialist. I’ll be honest, I thought this was going to be a huge waste of time. But I went through HVAC trade school to please my dad. When I graduated as a certified A/C worker, I felt proud of myself, and I soon grew to love my new job as a heating and A/C technician. I am really glad now that my dad did pressure me, he knew what he was talking about when he said it was a great industry to get into. Now I have finally found something that suits me and I enjoy.

I needed to stop wallowing in my own self pity and pick myself up off the ground. However, it took me a good long while to realize that. My life used to consist of me sitting in front of the TV for hours upon hours a day. I could easily binge watch an entire TV show within a week. My addiction to television was bad, and I knew I was wasting my life away with it. I started visiting friends and family less, and getting out less, and watching TV more. The comfort of my home only made the situation worse. You see, I have great climate control that keeps my house at a nice cool 74 degrees. The air conditioning system works so well and it is highly efficient, so I don’t really worry about costs either. With great food, nice A/C and the TV, I thought that was all I needed. But as time grew on, I felt dissatisfaction with how my life was turning out. I decided to reduce the amount of time to watch TV, and I failed many times. So I decided to get a job that would take so much of my time, I wouldn’t feel like watching TV. I became a HVAC specialist, and I worked overtime at almost every opportunity. My boss loved me, and with very little time to watch TV, I found my addiction slowly fading. Now I only watch an hour of TV a day, and being a HVAC worker has made me much happier and satisfied with my life.

I obviously chose the wrong color of clothes today when going outside. It was a hot over 90 degree day, and I was wearing all black. Unfortunately, cooling relief seemed to be far away, and so I knew I was going to be stuck like this for a while. I was stuck outside waiting in a long line to see a play. This play I have been looking forward to seeing for months, and now that I was here, I was surprised to see so many other people waiting in line. I arrived early to try to avoid the line, yet here I was. It probably took an hour or so, but it might as well have been an eternity with the heat. My clothes were completely covered in sweat, and I felt gross. Thankfully, once I managed to get into the theater, I felt the wonderful sensation of ice cold air touching my skin. They had their air conditioning on, and the entire place felt great. I positioned myself right next to where an A/C vent was, and enjoyed the cooling air. The play was fantastic, and I soon forgot all of my previous overheated worries. Once the play was over with, I was back outside in the baking sun. However, this time, I could quickly hop into my car, which also has A/C, and drive home to my central HVAC system. The drive home was fast and felt great, and I was glad not to be in the hot sun any longer.

I did not get where I am today by magic. It took a long time of fascination and studying. I have always been a fan of books and studying, ever since I was young. This didn’t exactly make me popular among other students, but I didn’t really care, I had a library full of books to read. I spent a lot of my time switching between different subjects. Usually what would happen is I would find a subject I find interesting, and then I would read as much information as I could find on that topic to learn about it. I still remember when I first discovered HVAC. I found a HVAC manual, and that is where my learning began, as well as I figured out what I wanted to be in life. While I have always been pretty good academically, reading about heating and air conditioning just made sense to me. I found myself fascinated with the world of HVAC technology, and I kept reading as much information as possible on it. It didn’t take me long to figure out that this is what I wanted to do for a living! So I did just that, I went to HVAC trade school and became a certified heating and A/C specialist. I was hired almost immediately after I graduated, and I have been incredibly happy ever since. I think it was my intense passion for learning that led me here, because otherwise, I might not have ever read about heating and air conditioning.

All black clothes on a hot sunny day Indoor comfort business

I have been to quite a few get-togethers, but none as bad as this one. I was just hired a month ago into a new job, and I guess our boss thought that my coworkers and I hadn’t spent enough time together, and wanted to build our relationships for better work ethic. I wasn’t overly eager to go, but I went anyway. When I entered the building the first thing that I noticed was that the building felt incredibly hot, but not only that, the air was also dry and it made it rough to breathe. I was already regretting my decision, but I wanted to make a good impression. I looked at the food that was offered, and it consisted of stale cheese and other mysterious looking foods. So I didn’t end up eating anything, and I tried some awkward small talk which didn’t improve the situation. I kept coughing due to the bad air quality, and after an hour, I finally left. I probably stood outside and took 5 minutes to breathe in the nice and clean air. I was so glad to get out of that overheated stuffy air building. I was so glad to get home to relax, and turn on the heating and air conditioning system for some nice clean cooling air. Watching some of my favorite shows pushed the bad experience and awful HVAC and air quality in the back of my mind. I hope our boss doesn’t plan anymore of those any time soon.

Intense studying is what made me who I am today gas heater

My wife is very eager about going to the movies. She is always talking about the latest movies that are coming out, and pays close attention to them. I don’t mind going to the movies, it is not my favorite activity, but it is not something I dread either. However, the last few times we have gone to the movie theater, I would always end up shivering. My wife would be unaffected because she wears her favorite jacket. But my T-shirt wouldn’t do much for keeping me warm. I am usually tolerant of cooler temperatures, but this movie theater must have their temperatures in the mid or low 60s, because it is cold in there! Regardless of the reason, when I knew we were going to view a movie today, I planned ahead of time. I brought my thickest, heaviest shirt I could find, and I felt nice and toasty. However, entering the theater, I noticed a drastic temperature change. Instead of ice cold like I was expecting, it was hot! I knew it wasn’t just me, when my wife took off her jacket. Unfortunately, since I chose a shirt, I couldn’t do that, because I have a feeling the theater employees wouldn’t appreciate a shirtless guy in their theater. I saw a HVAC van parked outside the theater, and that told me everything I needed to know. Their air conditioning system must have broken down, and that is why it is hot in here. I was hoping the A/C worker would have the air conditioning back up and running during the movie, but no such luck. The entire time I was sweating and uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, when it comes to school, I was never the best at learning. I had many other interests, but the stuff that school taught was never one of them. Because of this, it made me appear lazy in front of the teachers and my parents. So they forced me to study long hours and stay after school believing that I would improve. I didn’t. I would try to lean close and listen to what the teacher was attempting to teach, but I swear it would go in one ear and out the other. I finally figured out that I am a visual learner, not an auditory one. If I am listening to someone, most likely I won’t retain what they just said. However, when I am actually seeing diagrams or demonstrations, suddenly it all begins to click. It took me far too long to figure this out, but once I did, my grades began to improve drastically. When I went to HVAC university, I was presented with the same problem. My teacher would mostly give us verbal instructions, and I started to fail again. Even when I brought up my issues to him, he didn’t seem eager to change his teaching methods. It seemed all of the other students learned perfectly fine by auditory learning, but I guess I just learn differently. I started studying outside of school, and lots of books and HVAC videos later, and it all began to make sense. I finally graduated as a certified HVAC specialist, but it felt like it would take forever. I have since realized that often times, people who feel they are stupid aren’t actually stupid at all, they just learn and process things differently.

The A/C broke down at the movie theater Ductless mini split

Sometimes, it feels as if the stars align to create a bad day for me. Maybe that is me being overly negative, but it is true. Yesterday was a very important night for me and my wife. My in-laws were coming over for dinner, and I wanted to act my best. For a little bit of backstory, I work as a heating and air conditioning technician. A job that is very much needed, but not always appreciated by others. My in-laws are one of those people. Since my wife is a very successful doctor, they truly believe she deserves better than me. It can be very frustrating, but I try my best to not let it get to me. However, yesterday was just the epitome of bad luck. Why? Because the A/C device broke only 30 minutes before my in-laws were meant to arrive. Now, as a HVAC specialist, you might wonder, what’s the problem? I can easily just fix it, right? No. Because the issue was a part failure, and I would have to order that specific part online and wait to get it. I know my in laws already don’t think highly of me to begin with, but the last thing I want them to think is that I am incompetent as a HVAC specialist as well! I knew the part was going bad, but I was planning on doing a brand new A/C installation by this weekend, so I obviously wasn’t planning on repairing the current system. But I know that my in-laws will think that is an excuse. The entire dinner was overheated and awkward, and I am pretty sure they hate me even more now. I am just glad that it is over.

It took me awhile to learn at the HVAC university Geo heat pump

It is hard not to notice when your home goes from wonderfully warm, to ice cold, or vice versa. And that is exactly what happened. Yesterday was like any other day, and my heating and cooling device was working just fine. When I fell asleep however, I woke up to feeling all hot and sweaty. Since my room was dark, I figured the power had gone out, because we were having quite a few storms. Then I realized my ceiling fan was still on, so obviously a power outage was not the problem. I got up to investigate, and after looking around my home. I realized my air conditioning system was not on. That was strange, because the cooling unit is supposed to run all night while I sleep. I went and fiddled with the thermostat, but to my surprise it was not working or responding. I tried to change the temperature, but nothing happened. This is when I realized that this was going to be a problem for a HVAC professional to solve. So I made an appointment with the local air conditioning company for HVAC repair, and they are supposed to come out later today. I am really glad that they are able to come out on such short notice, because I would hate to be stuck with the overheated air and bad indoor air quality for days. I just hope when I get the heating and cooling bill, that it is not too expensive, and the problem my A/C has is minor.
