Some tips for your office

When my husband and I both started working from home, we needed to set up an office area that we could share.

Since we both work particularly long hours, we can’t afford to be disturbed.

We decided to convert our family room into an office and invest some money into making our office a place of inspiration and productivity. We updated the carpet, painted the walls a fresh new color, and installed several new power outlets. We made sure that the room is now well insulated, installed an energy-saving window, and we each got a new computer. We didn’t notice the complications with our heating and cooling system until after we had spent a few days working from home. Now that our home is no longer empty during the day, we are forced to run either heater or air conditioner round the clock. With just one thermostat, we were paying to keep the whole house at a comfortable temperature all day long. This was costing us a fortune, and since it was winter at the time, it was putting an enormous strain on the heater. Also, we weren’t very happy about having to interrupt our jobs to walk to the living room and adjust the temperature. My husband and I decided to consult with a reputable HVAC company who made the suggestion that we update our system to zone control with a smart thermostat. My husband and I are now able to adjust each zone in our house to an independent temperature. We can keep our office at the perfect temperature without impacting the rest of the house. We can also make changes to temperature, fan speed, and air quality from our smartphones. These updates have greatly improved our comfort level and saved us a great deal of money.
