Working from home leads to updating to smart thermostat and zone control –

Once I started working from home, I needed to set up an office space. Since I work very long hours, I can’t afford to be distracted. I decided to convert an extra bedroom into an office and invest some money into creating a more productive environment. I replaced the carpet, painted the walls a more soothing color and installed plenty of power outlets. I made sure that the room is now well insulated, installed an Energy Star rated window, and bought myself a better keyboard and monitor. I didn’t realize the problems with my heating and cooling system until after I’d spent a few days working from home. Now that my house is no longer empty during the day, I am forced to run either the furnace or the air conditioner. With a single thermostat, I was paying to maintain the entire house at the perfect temperature. This was costing me a fortune, and since it was winter at the time, I was putting a great deal of strain on the furnace. Plus, I wasn’t happy about interrupting my work and walking to the living room to make an adjustment to temperature. I consulted with a local HVAC contractor who recommend updating to zone control with a smart thermostat. I am now able to adjust each zone in the home to an independent temperature. I can maintain my office at the ideal temperature without impacting the rest of the house. I can also make changes to temperature, fan speed and air quality from my smartphone. These updates have greatly improved comfort and saved me quite a bit of money.
