A wifi thermostat can change your home

A few years back, my wife and I bought a small retirement condo.

  • The two of us now spend the freezing winter months down south, and the late spring and summer months up north.

Caring for more than one home took some getting used to. My wife and I were always concerned with what was going on in with our empty house up north. With layers of snow and ice and outdoor temperatures that often dropped below zero, a power outage or oil furnace issue can become an enormous problem. We mainly worry about the water pipes freezing over and maybe even bursting. I’m forced to leave the furnace running just enough to make sure this doesn’t happen. Before making our way south for the winter, I always have to to schedule professional service for the furnace. A licensed HVAC contractor thoroughly inspects, cleans and makes necessary adjustments to the furnace. If there are any parts in need of repair or replacement, he makes the replacement as necessary. This promotes greater dependability, safety, and longevity for the heating system. Last year, I happened to mention how I worry about the running the oil furnace all winter. The HVAC contractor recommended that I install a WIFI temperature control. This has really given my wife and I peace of mind. I can now routinely check on the performance of the oil furnace through my smartphone. With a simple tap of my finger, I have access to temperature adjustment, repair status, and energy tracking. If there are any problems, such as a temperature fluctuation or loss of power, I get a notification right away. Also, I can make sure the house is set for the perfect temperature when my wife and I arrive back home in the Springtime. My wife and I have made plans to install a WIFI temperature control into our house down south, as well.
