Replacing our wooden fireplace with an electric one

Besides wood becoming more pricey, my child has been ranting about how various trees we’ve been killing just to get cozy in our home… He even stopped enjoying reading close to the fireplace because all he could think about was all the carbon he was inhaling… Way to go, science! But he was right; my great friend and I needed to make swings, and I didn’t want to let go of our reading tradition.

My sister told me my great friend and I could wipe the wood and put in an electric heater, but it sounded unrealistic.

I had to involve the heating serviceman when he came around for heater service. We have a gas heater to keep the rest of the condo warm, and my hubby thought that my great friend and I should stick to that as our sole heating component instead of spending currency on upgrading a single heating unit that was not heating much more than one room. I was determined to fight for our book nook, though. The Heating as well as Air Conditioning professional told me that making that change was so easy I could do it myself; All I needed to do was wipe the fireside of any wood debris, buy an electric unit from the local heating dealership, and get to the installation. I was not keen on doing it myself because it would require me to do much more than I like to handle when electricity is involved. I would wipe alright, but all the other tasks would be governed by the heating company from the local heating dealer. They came, measured the fireside opening, brought in the heater insert, did the electrical wiring, and installed it seamlessly. The process took longer than I expected but fit within our $3000 budget, including the control unit. I hope my great friend and I keep it for five years separate from needing heating repair.
