Learning fireplace safety after moving to an ancient house with one

I ensured the whole family was present when the heating contractor arrived because safety is a whole family affair, & I was not going to take any chances

I grew up in a house that had a boiler for heating, so it was a pleasant surprise to find a house with a fireplace. The downside is that I had yet to learn how to go about heating system repair, especially safety, because it is gas-powered, & I have a big phobia for gas fires. It is one thing learning about it online, & it’s another having to see it done by an HVAC professional. I tried learning all the articles a heating specialist wrote on a blog, however putting the guidelines into action only went beyond not leaving the fire unattended. My kids are ancient enough to be kept off the fire area, however my pal and I took no chances. That’s why I visited the local heating contractor to find out if they could have a heating device specialist visit us for heating device repair training in our home. Thankfully they did & were impressed my pal and I wanted professional help… Not so my pal and I could avoid heating repair however to ensure my pal and I were using it safely because it did not come with a manual. I also wanted to purchase a portable electric heating system to help heat the unaffixed garage without spending too much on extra HVAC replacement & because that space had enough aeration for when it got hotter. If it got unbearable, I could always have a fan installed. Thankfully, the heating dealership is only 15 minutes away. I ensured the whole family was present when the heating contractor arrived because safety is a whole family affair, & I was not going to take any chances. He taught us everything, including how to use the thermostat respectfully, & insisted on why the fire screen had to stay on, much to the disappointment of my hubby, who thought it unnecessary.
