Rolling the dice on the heat pump this summer

It’s not even the third week of June & I’m already busy out.

I think that comes with the territory when you bet on a 23 year outdated heat pump to make it through the summer.

Add to that equation the fact that the Heating, Ventilation & A/C worker told us last fall that the two of us absolutely needed to update the Heating, Ventilation & A/C component soon. Well, she said the same thing however with more urgency when she came back to do the air conditioning tune-up this Springtime. But the two of us still hadn’t saved the money that the two of us were hoping to put together so the two of us rolled the dice on the outdated heat pump. Could it hold together for just one more summer? I tried to corner the Heating, Ventilation & A/C professional on this one. But the Heating, Ventilation & A/C worker was clear that once the Heating, Ventilation & A/C cooling costs skyrocketed, the two of us didn’t have long. Outside of that, she just couldn’t supply us much more on a timeline. The skyrocketing cooling costs are due to the fact that heat pump is losing the ability to even meet control component demand. The heat pump has to run nearly continuously to just get to the split even point. That’s not fantastic news for the outdated heat pump & it’s a quick downward spiral from there. So the two of us made sure that the two of us programmed the control component to stay absolutely high during the peak heating hours of the summer time mornings. And at night, the two of us bring it down a bit to sleep. The fans are helping as well however I still don’t recognize so fantastic about this bet that our outdated heat pump will get through the next multiple months of intense heat & humidity.
