The HVAC cabinet outside needs attention in the winter

Without this, the HVAC couldn’t exhaust the heat it extracts from the house.

We get hit hard by both summer and winter in this area. It seems sort of like it shouldn’t be that way. I mean if we have to go through a long, cold winter, we should be able to enjoy a pleasant summer. That is not the case at all. For sure the winter is long and cold. However, the summer can be a humidity filled blast furnace at times. This means the HVAC gets a workout on both the heating and cooling side. Our furnace works really hard in the winter to help keep us warm for all of those months. I make sure the furnace gets a good inspection and service from the HVAC professionals prior to the temps dropping. On the other side, I make sure the HVAC cooling unit gets a good look and service in the spring prior to the heat settling in. However, until recently, I hadn’t really considered the HVAC cooling side during the winter. It just sort of sat there. I figured that is was fine since because I didn’t know any better. Unlike the HVAC heating side, the HVAC cooling side has important components that sit outside the house. This is the condenser and compressor that are inside the HVAC cabinet. Without this, the HVAC couldn’t exhaust the heat it extracts from the house. Well, during the winter it can often just sit there with all the weight from snow and ice simply laying on delicate components. That just won’t do. I got hip and ordered a hard plastic cover that fits over the HVAC cabinet to protect it during the winter.
