I know one thing for sure.
There is no way I would still be married if it wasn’t for a system of lists that I use to remember to get my household responsibilities done.
That’s how totally absent minded I can be. Just like I forgot the HVAC maintenance appointment a few weeks back. This is an annoying characteristic that goes back to my youth. My mother would just pull her hair out over my inability to remember my chores. So, to be a somewhat more effective adult, I put the list system together. My wife has a ton to do and doesn’t need to be picking up my slack. She also was very attuned to the fact that I can be this way when she agreed to marry me. It’s not like a somehow sprung it on her. The HVAC thing really gets to me maybe even more than it does for her. First, I hate not making sure the HVAC maintenance gets done in a timely manner. Our HVAC is just too important to our family not to make sure that it gets very well taken care of. We did a lot of research and spent a significant amount of money on that HVAC. It makes good logical sense to protect that investment. Plus, I hate getting charged for anything that I don’t actually get. It’s even worse than those dreaded late payment fees. Every time I miss an HVAC appointment, I still have to pay the service fee. Next time, I’m putting the HVAC appointment date in all caps on my list.
