We asked Santa for an air conditioner

When the air conditioning broke last summer, dad couldn’t afford to have it repaired.

We went the entire summer without any air conditioning.

If we had lived anywhere else but in the Northeast, I’m not sure we could have gone without the air conditioning. Fortunately, we lived in the Northeast and in an area that wasn’t heavily populated and there were few black top roads. We had a lot of trees for shade and a light breeze that blew across our property every afternoon. Some nights were a bit upsetting, when we couldn’t get to sleep because of the temperatures and we would get out of bed covered in sweat. I remember changing my pajamas twice in one night. Although not all nights were like that one, even two or three nights were way too much to be comfortable. We were really grateful when summer finally ended and fall began. By the time Thanksgiving came around, we were also grateful that our furnace was working better than what the air conditioning had. During Thanksgiving dinner, we always go around the table and ask what we were thankful for over the last year. We also put in our Christmas wish. When it came time for my thank you, I said that I was thankful that summer ended early and that it was now fall. I also said that I wished that our air conditioning would be fixed. My little brother and older sister had the same thank you’s and Christmas wishes. I sure hope Santa heard us because another summer without AC, won’t be a good thing.
