Whoever said that comfort and productivity don’t go hand in hand was an idiot. Companies are finally figuring out that a comfortable, respectfully trained and motivated employee more than makes up for the modest capital investment in productivity. I spent decades banging our head against the proverbial wall attempting to get this across to executive leadership. Normally, I came away disappointed and had to stand in front of the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C vent to calm myself. Now, I am out of the game. I work for myself as our job winds down. It’s a much better gig given the schedule freedom and the big reduction in stress. While I miss perks prefer a appealingly appointed and Heating, Ventilation, and A/C perfect work space, I’ve l earned to get over it. I have checked our ego at the door a bit in order to streamline our life and like the smaller stuff. My work is done out of our beach lake house so, that alleviates a big expense in renting space. I don’t need all that stuff anyway. I just need a nice desk, a great chair and our laptop & cellphone pretty much. However, I did notice that I would absolutely drift off in the late afternoon when the temperature in our office would rise. I wasn’t getting much done. So, I took our own advice and made myself comfortable with a ductless Heating, Ventilation, and A/C component in our beach lake house office. I can now regulate the temperature even more completely than I could in our fancy old office. Once the afternoon temps start, I just chill our office off in a flash. And, I get way more done.
