I am a self-employed HVAC technician, and it is very nice. There are some definite advantages to being self-employed, but there are some disadvantages too. For instance, since I do not work for an HVAC company, I never have a guaranteed paycheck. While working for an HVAC company, I never had to worry about finding work for me to do. Finding jobs was the responsibility of the owner of the HVAC company, and I just showed up for work. Also, a lot of the responsibilities of owning a business fell onto the owner of the HVAC company. It was much simpler to work for an HVAC company. However, I quit my job with the HVAC company, and I am in the process of starting my own HVAC company. For now, I am the only employee of my HVAC company, and I work for myself. As a self-employed HVAC technician, I have to keep track of a lot of paperwork, and I am responsible for finding all of the work that I need to do. There is a lot of pressure to contact companies offering my HVAC services. I have to work hard as a self-employed HVAC technician. The cool part is that I get to set my own schedule. Nobody can tell me when I have to start HVAC work. I am in charge of my entire life. The only trouble is that I still have to act as though I have a schedule if I ever want to make money as an HVAC technician. One day, I will grow this HVAC company, but for now, I am enjoying the independence. It is honestly cool.
